Introduction
Hey there!
I am Melissa Thompson; owner of Thompson AP Lab Optimization Services LLC and I want to welcome you to the inaugural post of the AP Lab Savvy Blog! I am thrilled to launch this platform dedicated to Cytology and Histology Lab Leaders everywhere working in AP Labs of all shapes and sizes!
The world of laboratory management is continuously evolving, with increasing demands for efficiency, quality, new technologies, and regulatory compliance. Having over 30 years of experience in the Cytology and Histology laboratory sector, I understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with leading an Anatomic Pathology Laboratory.
And while the AP Lab Savvy Blog is written for Cytology and Histology leaders at its core, our brothers and sisters on the Clinical Laboratory side are welcome here too! Many of the leadership challenges we face don’t stop at the AP laboratory door. Building strong teams, improving processes, managing change, maintaining quality, preparing for inspections, and simply trying to keep all the plates spinning are challenges laboratory leaders across disciplines understand. So, whether you work in Anatomic Pathology, the Clinical Laboratory, or somewhere in between, I hope you’ll find ideas here that you can bring back to your team and incorporate into your own practices.
